Molly's Snowman

One handsome snowman!
A snowman's worst nightmare: warm weather!
Until we meet again next year...
Of course we can't go through the entire winter without at least one snowman. Molly created this handsome fellow. I took pictures as the weather warmed up and like Frosty, the snowman melted away with a promise to come back again next year.

Dog or Cat?

Griffin has a very big playful streak about him. One of his favorite activities is to play with a ball of yarn as if he's a cat. One morning Abby was getting ready for school and I had been in the kitchen when I walked into the living room to find that Griffin had found the balls of yarn I had made into balls to send in with Abby to school for a project. He showed interest in the yarn balls the night before while I was "balling" them, but I never thought he'd go into the bag to get one. He seemed a bit annoyed when I put a stop to his play.

Valentine's Day

Little lady with a ladybug box.
Molly and I made this Valentine's Day ladybug mailbox out of an oatmeal container when she was in kindergarten. She used it each year throughout elementary school. Several years she talked about making a new mailbox, but we never did. It is awfully cute,
if I do say so myself.

Snowy Winter

Wintery Wonderland
Don't worry -- our trampoline was shot even before the snow.
The air conditioner showing how much snow we got.
Griffin LOVED the snow -- Casper, not so much.
Griffin leaped through the snow and loved playing in it.
Molly is standing in our yard.
Yes, the snow was almost up to her hips.
The back of our house.
Look at the snow on the branch of the tree
and the amount of snow on the roof.
Don't worry -- Abby is not standing up!
She's taking a break while making snow forts with Molly.
A very deep snow angel.
Don't you feel sorry for Paul as he dug out our driveway?
It was about 24" deep on our back driveway with the drifts.
Molly in her snow fort.
Perfect snow-fort-making kind of snow!
Abby hiding in one of her snow fort rooms.
There was enough snow to make forts with rooms.
Snowy girls!
This past winter was such a snowy one. It was kind of like winter that I remember as a kid, something our girls haven't seen. At the beginning of February we got 18-24 inches of snow one night into the next day. That's a lot of snow no matter how you look at it. Some folks got a little tired of the snow, but I thought it added a fun element to winter. If we're going to have winter, we might as well make it worth our while.

Good Bye Braces!!

Beautiful girl with beautiful teeth!
When Abby got her braces last January, the orthodontist predicted that she would have them on for about a year. He was right on. It was about exactly one year and just 3 days after Abby's 14th birthday she got the best present: the removal of her braces. And what a beautiful smile she has. Worth every penny to see her smile shine!

Happy 14th Birthday Abby!

A birthday sleepover with bossom buddy Paisley!
Also in January Abby had a birthday -- this year her 14th.
We went out to dinner with our friends whose youngest son Camden shares a birthday with Abby. Camden was born on Abby's 8th birthday and the fact that Abby and Camden share a birthday is a definate special bond that sets apart their friendship. 14 years old already? We've all survived an entire year of her teen years so far! To be honest, Abby is a joy and continues to amaze us in so many ways.
Paul and I are blessed to call her our daughter.

Birthday Breakfast -- Thanks Girls!
I know it's kind of unbelievable, but I turned the big 40 in January.
To help celebrate, I went out to dinner with a group of friends from church for a mom's night out. Then on my real birthday, the girls made me breakfast and then we went out to dinner as a family.
It was not a birthday full of bells and whistles, but it was a
happy day none the less.
