But She Doesn't Like Math...
We just found out via the school newsletter some exciting news about Abby. In February there was a state-wide word problem (math) contest. From the eight nearby counties, the 6th graders from Abby's school came in 3rd place. Of her grade, Abby was one of the top five high scoring kids. Keep in mind Abby claims she doesn't like math! Even though she thinks she doesn't necessarily like it, she excels at it. We are proud of her!
Spring Poems by Molly
Molly has recently learned about poetry in school and here's a sample of a few spring poems she has written.
Kites are fun
Whenever I play with my kite,
I will never, ever need a light,
My kite always makes me smile,
My smile won't get off my face for a while!
Playing in the Day
When I play,
I play in the day,
But I can't play in the night,
Because there is no light!
Rabbit
Cute, soft,
Hops very fast,
Loving, caring, gray,
Angel
This poem is written about our rabbit, Angel.
Sun
Park
Rain
Inchworm
Neat
Green grass
This is an acrostic poem, which uses the letters of words. Each letter of the word is the first letter of the poem.

Baseball Season is Upon Us!
Molly is playing baseball for the third year. She played one year of teeball and this is her second year on the rookie league, which is a coach-pitch softball league. She had her first game of the season and you can see by this picture she was ready for some action in the outfield! Fairly certain she didn't get any balls hit to her. She did hit three singles during this game, so she's off to a good start.
Dramatic Laura
Our niece, Laura, (which is also the girls' cousin, obviously) was in a musical at her high school recently and we were glad we had the opportunity to see it. "Cinderella" was very well done and it was a most enjoyable evening of "culture." What was most fun was seeing Laura on stage, as this was her first theatrical performance. Way to go, Laura -- we were so proud of you!
