Pumpkin Time

The girls did a great job making their jack-o-lanterns this weekend. Molly pushed up her sleeves and dove right into her pumpkin and grabbed handfuls of the goop and seeds to clean her pumpkin out. Abby, on the other hand, wasn't too keen on the goop and very carefully used a big spoon to help clean her pumpkin. We figured out that Casper really likes raw pumpkin seeds! He was begging to have more. We tried something new this year by using cutting patterns that came with those little pumpkin knives you can buy at the store. It was a little time-consuming, but the results were well worth it. Molly's pumpkin is the jolly happy faced one and Abby's is the intricate cat face. Happy Halloween!

The Big 40!!

Yes, it's true -- Paul had a very big birthday on October 12th. He's is now into his 4th decade. We celebrated the special occassion by going to Canton, Ohio (just an hour away) and stayed at a hotel as the girls had the day off from school. We did a little shopping, went to see a movie, went out to eat, friends came and met us to stay one night at the hotel, and the next day we went on a train ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, which goes through the Cuyahoga National Forest between Akron and Cleveland area. It was a fun get-away.

The Port Hole Picture

Can't go on a cruise without having a port hole picture, of course!!

The Whole Cruise Gang

Here we are, all eight of us who went on the cruise, on the last night before the storm. Front row: Jennie, Sarah, Abby, Molly. Back row: Tom, Gail, Paul, Betsy.

Got to love Mickey!

Who doesn't love Mickey? This picture was taken on Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, in front of the Wonder cruise ship and the Flyin Dutchman, the pirate ship from Disney's movie "Pirates of the Caribbean."

Sweet Feet

Here is a picture of the Slater family feet. I bet not many of you have a picture quite like this! It's not everyday that we get to put our feet in crystal clear Bahamian water...

Our Disney Cruise

Well, I finally have time to upload some pictures from the Disney cruise our family took September 27-30. We had so much fun and it really was an ultimate vacation. We took a 3 night cruise, although now we wished we had taken the 4 night, as it would have given us one more day on the ship to enjoy things the ship has to offer. We went into Nassau, Bahamas, and then spent a day on Castaway Cay, Disney's private island also in the Bahamas. We were told that the day we had on the island was the best day of the past 10 stops on the island. It sure was hot and sunny the day we were there. I bet the temperature topped 95 degrees. The cruise before ours rained all four days, but we had just about an hour or so of rain the day we were in Nassau, but it didn't matter much. We cruised with friends of ours who live down the street whose daughters are Abby and Molly's buddies. Fun was had by all. The last night we did hit a pretty rough storm and the ship rocked and rolled and everyone on the ship was having a hard time walking straight. It was a little unsettling, but we did finally manage to get to sleep and we woke up in the morning safe and sound. Disney sure does know how to entertain! The shows each evening were so good, the food was plentiful and yummy, the staff were a fun bunch, and it was just about perfect!
