Molly & her new buddy!
No -- just Griffin and Casper snuggling close
Frick & Frack!!

One weekend on September Paul, Molly, and I went to an outdoor craft and vendor show in the next town over. Little did we know we would visit a booth of a no-kill animal shelter that just so happen to have an eight month old, very lively and oh so cute little mut of a dog named Griffin. Griffin, the little white fur ball fluffy bugger is a mix of bichon frise (Casper's breed) and lhaso apso with puppy-soft fur that is staying very soft and fluffy. When I looked at him he looks like a stuffed animal, not a real dog. Molly and I fell in love with him at first sight. Paul even seemed to take a liking to him. As Griffin was pouncing (I think he might be related to Winnie the Pooh's friend Tigger, who has springs in his tail) and loving us, I turned to Paul and said I really wanted to take Griffin home with us. Without much hesitation, Paul basically gave me his okay. That alone was quite a shock to me. We had briefly entertained the idea of getting a second dog, but it was kind of a passing thought -- until we met Griffin. At that point we had to fill out application papers, we took them back that day, and the following week we got word that the shelter picked us to be Griffin's adoptive family. We went and picked him up a couple of days later.
Casper and Griffin became fast friends that very first day. Casper loves other dogs and Griffin is no exception to that rule. At first there were times I would look at the two of them and realized our lives of a one dog family are over. We often dog-sit for a variety of friends, but when we have two under those circumstances, it's temporary. Now we have two and it's permanent. At first Griffin would pester Casper just as a puppy should -- nipping Casper's ears, always making sure to go outside first and then turning and waiting to make sure Casper follows and then nip at his ears, show signs of jealousy when we paid any attention to Casper. And then he showed us the signs of chewing! He especially likes cardboard boxes! Over time that habit has dwindled, but given the opportunity, he still chews if left alone long enough.
Griffin has been a great addition to our household. Casper does seem to enjoy having Griffin around. Casper is very nice to Griffin, allowing Griffin to "borrow" his toys, he tollerates the nipping at his ears and legs, he even engages in wrestling with Griffin on occassion. The two boys take turns sleeping on each other's dogs beds in the living room, and they have many times been found sleeping side-by-side in Casper's dog bed in our bedroom at night. Now that's devotion!
