It's been a big month for Abby, as she celebrated her 13th birthday on the 23rd and got braces today. We got a good amount of snow last night and today -- enough that school was canceled. Abby was okay with no school because she was to get her braces on this morning and for the rest of the day she got to be at home getting used to her new best friends which are cemented to her teeth. The orthodontist thinks she will have the braces on for about a year, so that's bearable. Abby was very glad that she got to have black and gold bands put on in honor of the Steelers and their big day coming up on Sunday as they play in the Super Bowl! She's not complained much about pain; so far the braces have been more annoying than painful. I guess I'd rather have annoying. And the good thing is she'll get used to them soon enough. Becca, one of my extra kids whom I used to babysit (and is now in 3rd grade) got braces yesterday, so we stopped at their house today to get a picture of the girls with their new silver smiles.
